A Prayer for Our School Teachers

The excitement of back-to-school is in the air. One-fourth of the U.S. population age three and older will be attending classes (76 million); and over seven million teachers are preparing to start a new school year (U.S.A. Census).

Today Lord, we hold up those teachers before you. They mold the minds of our young; and we ask that your Spirit intercede in their classroom. We pray that our teachers will seek and find the wisdom that comes from you; and that they will seek You to be both the Lord of their life and the Lord of their classroom. We ask that you protect our teachers and our schools from harm and evil. May you bless our teachers with love, understanding, wisdom and patience. May our teachers not only teach good character but may they also model good character. May this be a rewarding year for our schools and our teachers. Amen

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

Unworthy - Now Ready

I am unworthy of your love, mercy, and grace. I am humbled and broken and ready to be used. I ask you to grant me wisdom, help me to love, and give me your grace so that I might glorify You.

Help Us Understand!

Lord, when we seek wisdom from your word, please help us to
understand it. Let your Spirit open the eyes of our hearts and minds so we can learn those things we need to live like You. Amen!

Fill Me With the Knowledge of Your Will

Lord, I ask that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will and with all spiritual wisdom and understanding; so I can walk in a manner worthy of your love. I wish to  please you and bear fruit in every good work. Amen

Based on Paul's prayer found in Colossians 1:9-12 ESV

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Poverty

God help me to remember those that are less fortunate. Lord grant me a heart willing to help, discernment and wisdom on how to help, and the means to help. Amen

If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered. (Proverb 21:13)

"Infinite Wisdom..."

My view is limited. Lord, I do not see all of your ways and all of your works nor how they play out in the big picture. You are infinite; and I am not. Help me Lord to learn to trust your wisdom and never doubt who is really in charge. Amen!

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)

Me and My Mouth

Please share Today's Prayer with a friend. Share

Lord teach me when to open my mouth and when to keep my big mouth shut. On the surface this would seem to be a relatively easy task but in real life this is enormously difficult. It requires both wisdom and self-control that only God can provide. So Lord please hear my request and be gracious to heal what mistakes I have made by opening my mouth when I should not have. Amen.

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. (Proverbs 25:11)

Help Me Gain the Knowledge

Lord help me to wise and to obtain the knowledge needed to reach my desires, dreams, and your purpose for my life. Lord may your will and purpose always be my desire and my dreams. Amen.

Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way. Proverbs 19:2 (ESV)

Zeal without know-how is not profitable and hurrying to accomplish a task without taking the time to gain the knowledge necessary will cause a person to miss the opportunity to accomplish their desire. Pay the price of gaining the knowledge necessary to reach your dream. -Pastor Jim

Not My Strength

Gently teach me Lord to rely on your strength and your wisdom. When I trust your wisdom, I walk in your will; and when I trust in your strength, then many mighty tasks can be accomplished. Amen.

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. (Psalms 28:7)

A Note from Pastor Jim:

Choices

Lord, direct my path. Today and everyday that follows I will be making choices. Some will affect others and almost always my choices will reflect my relationship with you. Not only do I need wisdom in my decisions, I also need a heart willing to follow your will. Again, I say, "Lord, direct my path." Share

Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. (Psalms 27:11)

Make Me Teachable.

Lord make me teachable. Help me too be open to your wisdom and your word. Amen

That I Might Walk In Wisdom

True wisdom and real knowledge with understanding comes from the LORD. All wisdom, knowledge and understanding needs to be weighed in the light of his word. Lord help me consider what your word teaches so that I might walk in wisdom with knowledge and understanding. Amen

For  a the LORD gives wisdom;  from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; Proverbs 2:6 (ESV)

I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day. -Abraham Lincoln
